Configure mode-specific options: cell count, transition speed, density

Every presentation mode has dials worth knowing about — cell count for mosaic, transition speed for slideshow, pan duration for ambient, hero rotation for magazine. Here's what each does and what to set it to.

Each presentation mode exposes a small set of mode-specific options under Wall settings → Layout. This article catalogs them, with recommended defaults by screen size.

Mosaic options

Cell count

How many photos are visible at once. Higher = more density.

  • 12 — large cells, suits 1080p screens under 55”.
  • 24 (default) — balanced, works on most venue TVs.
  • 40 — dense, suits 1080p screens over 65” or any 4K screen.
  • 60 — very dense, recommended only for 4K screens over 75”.

Refresh rate

How often new photos rotate into the grid.

  • Slow (every 30 seconds) — calmer, suits dinners.
  • Medium (every 15 seconds, default) — most events.
  • Fast (every 5 seconds) — high-energy events with rapid uploads.

Animation style

How new photos enter the grid.

  • Pop (default) — quick scale-up. Energetic.
  • Fade — soft cross-fade. Subdued.
  • Slide — slides in from edges. Architectural.

Slideshow options

Interval

Seconds per photo. The single most important dial.

  • 5 seconds — fast pace, suits high-throughput events.
  • 8 seconds (default) — reads well, gives uploader names time to absorb.
  • 15 seconds — contemplative, suits weddings and memorials.
  • 30 seconds — almost ambient.

Show uploader name

Whether to display the uploader’s first name beneath each photo.

  • On (default for Wedding template) — adds warmth, helps guests notice their own.
  • Off (default for Gala template) — cleaner, more editorial.

Show photo count

Whether to display “Photo 47 of 312” in the corner.

  • Off (default) — recommended for most events.
  • On — useful for conferences and corporate where the count itself is a talking point.

Ambient options

Pan duration

Seconds per Ken Burns cycle.

  • 30 seconds — noticeably moving.
  • 60 seconds (default) — barely perceptible, restful.
  • 120 seconds — almost still.

Density

How tightly packed the underlying mosaic is.

  • Sparse — feels airy. Default for cocktail receptions.
  • Medium (default) — most events.
  • Dense — suits 4K backdrops.

Magazine options

Hero rotation

Seconds before the hero photo changes.

  • 30 seconds — energetic.
  • 45 seconds (default) — balanced.
  • 60 seconds — gives each hero a real moment.

Tile count

Number of supporting tiles around the hero.

  • 4 — minimalist, hero-forward.
  • 6 (default) — balanced.
  • 8 — dense, only on 4K.

Whether the bottom strip of sponsors is visible.

  • On (default for Corporate, Conference templates).
  • Off — frees vertical space for taller hero photos.

If you don’t want to think about it:

  • 55” 1080p venue TV → Slideshow at 8s, or Mosaic at 12 cells.
  • 65” 1080p venue TV → Slideshow at 8s, or Mosaic at 24 cells.
  • 75”+ 4K venue TV → Mosaic at 40 cells, or Magazine with 6 tiles.
  • Conference room projector (1080p) → Ambient at 60s pan.
  • LED video wall (4K+) → Mosaic at 60 cells, fast refresh.
  • Tablet on a stand (10–12”) → Slideshow at 5s. Don’t use mosaic at this size.

Tuning during the event

You can change any mode option live without interrupting the wall. New cells/transitions take effect on the next cycle (within ~5 seconds for most settings). Photos already on screen aren’t disturbed.

If you’re tuning during the event, the Pause wall control is your friend — pause, change a setting, eyeball, resume.
