Templates are starting points. They set sensible defaults for the kind of event you’re running. Every default is overridable from Wall settings, so don’t overthink the initial pick — pick the closest and tune from there.
What every template controls
A template ships with defaults for:
- Presentation mode (mosaic, slideshow, ambient, magazine).
- Accent color — different for each template, all editable.
- Welcome message — the headline on the guest upload page.
- Moderation strictness — auto-approve vs. manual review.
- Sponsor placement defaults — anchored, rotating, or off.
- Cell density and transition timing — mode-specific.
Template by template
Gala
- Mode: Mosaic at 30 cells.
- Accent: Deep gold (
#B08D2C). - Welcome: “Share the night. Photos will appear on the wall.”
- Moderation: Manual review.
- Sponsor: Premier-tier anchored in bottom-right; rotating Gold/Silver in top-left.
Best fit for fundraising galas, awards nights, charity balls. Override the accent color to match the event’s print materials.
Wedding
- Mode: Slideshow at 8 seconds, uploader names on.
- Accent: Soft blush (
#D49BA3). - Welcome: “Welcome! Tag your photos for the happy couple.”
- Moderation: Manual review during ceremony, auto-approve after.
- Sponsor: Off by default.
Best fit for receptions and ceremonies. Couples often override the accent to match their wedding palette.
Corporate
- Mode: Magazine.
- Accent: Indigo (
#4F46E5). - Welcome: “Capture the day. Your photos go on the screen.”
- Moderation: Manual review.
- Sponsor: Anchored sponsor strip across the bottom.
Best fit for company holiday parties, kickoffs, awards. Most corporate teams override the accent to their brand color.
Conference
- Mode: Ambient in the lobby, switch to Magazine in the main hall.
- Accent: Charcoal (
#27272A). - Welcome: “Tag your sessions and share what you’re learning.”
- Moderation: Light — auto-approve with after-the-fact moderation queue.
- Sponsor: Premier-tier sponsor anchored as “presented by”; tiered logos rotating.
Best fit for multi-day conferences, summits, and trade events. Many conferences run multiple walls (one per stage) — see Multi-event setups for the pattern.
Festival
- Mode: Mosaic at 60 cells.
- Accent: Vibrant orange (
#F97316). - Welcome: “Show us your festival. Photos go on the big screens.”
- Moderation: Auto-approve.
- Sponsor: Premier-tier rotating across multiple zones.
Best fit for music festivals, food festivals, block parties, large public events. The high cell count assumes a 4K screen.
Which template when your event doesn’t fit
A few mappings for events that don’t slot neatly into a category:
- Birthday party → Wedding (slideshow defaults work well).
- Retirement party → Wedding.
- Product launch → Corporate.
- Religious service or graduation → Conference (calm, ambient defaults).
- Bar/bat mitzvah → Gala for the reception; Wedding for the service.
- Charity 5K, race, or sporting event → Festival.
Overriding template defaults
Open Wall settings and override anything. The template name stays the same — it’s just the starting point. You can verify the override status by clicking the small “Reset to template defaults” link at the bottom of each settings tab.
If you want to share a configuration across multiple events, save it as a custom template (available on the Signature plan and above). Custom templates are scoped to your account.
What to do next
- Choose the right presentation mode if you’re considering an override.
- Configure mode-specific options like cell count and transition speed.
- Set your event name, hashtag, tagline for the branding layer.
