Because Fotowall is priced per event, upgrading doesn’t mean changing a subscription — it means picking a different tier for your next event. The exception is mid-event upgrades, covered below.
Picking a different tier for the next event
When you create a new event, you pick its tier. Last event was Essential? Pick Signature for the next one. Last event was Premier? Pick Essential if it’s a smaller one.
Past events stay on whatever tier they were billed at. The tier affects features that were available during that event; we don’t retroactively downgrade or remove features from past events.
Mid-event upgrades
Sometimes an event sells more tables than expected, or a wedding turns out to be twice the size on the night. We support upgrading the active event from the event settings page:
- Open the event detail page.
- Click Upgrade event in the header.
- Pick the new tier.
- Confirm. The new features unlock immediately; the wall keeps running with no interruption.
Billing for a mid-event upgrade is prorated — you pay the difference between the original tier and the new one. The invoice arrives the next business day.
Mid-event downgrades
We don’t support mid-event downgrades. Once an event is upgraded, it stays at that tier for the duration. (Otherwise you’d see features blink out mid-night, which would be confusing for moderators and embarrassing for the host.)
After the event ends, the next event you create starts fresh and you can pick whatever tier you want.
Annual contracts (Enterprise)
Enterprise customers on annual contracts can renegotiate the tier mid-contract — typically when their volume grows or shrinks. Contact your CSM, or hello@fotowall.io if you don’t have one assigned.
What changes when you upgrade
The feature deltas between tiers are documented on the pricing page. A quick summary:
- Essential → Signature unlocks: multi-admin team, custom guest fields, sponsor placement, saved templates, post-event email.
- Signature → Premier unlocks: white-label, Premier sponsor anchoring, multi-zone displays, extended pin count, longer retention.
- Premier → Enterprise unlocks: custom domain, account-wide white-label, SSO, dedicated CSM, custom DPA, slack support.

- Cancel and data retention if your needs are dropping rather than rising.
- White-label is the most common reason teams upgrade Signature → Premier.
